BIO - GENC TUKIÇI

Genc Tukiçi is a pianist and composer of dual nationality, Albanian and French.

He graduated from the Conservatory of Tirana and the Normal School of Music of Paris-Alfred Cortot, where he currently works.

His international career as a concert pianist has led him to play in the greatest musical halls.  Some of the concerts, held at the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad in Switzerland, Salle Gaveau and Cortot in Paris, and the prestigious theater Town Hall in New York, have earned him recognition as one of the most  remarkable pianists of his generation.

He received the prestigious Nino Rota prize which rewards “a great musician, of international level” and particularly noted his “superb interpretations made from heart and spirit, in perfect symbiosis with the orchestra.”

His interpretations have been recorded, most notably with the symphony orchestras of the Opera of Tirana and Macedonia, the Russian Tchaikovsky Orchestra, and with the orchestras of the Albanian and Slovenian Radio and Television.

Genc Tukiçi accompanies the greatest performers, like Inva Mula and Olen Çesari with whom he performs regularly.

In 2012, his testimonial, published under the title “La musique en 3D,” appeared in a book about the piano and the art of accompaniment.

As a composer, he has created and recorded various pieces for piano and orchestra, including several musical “Paraphrases” on themes by Puccini, Verdi or Offenbach.

A CD of his compositions – inspired by patriotic themes – with Inva Mula was released in November 2012: pieces for soprano, piano, and orchestra.

Genc Tukiçi collaborates with the artistic agency Adagio. Genc composed and orchestrated the hymn dedicated to Mother Tereza with Inva Mula and Bujar Llapaj.

Genc reached the semi-finals of the song contest to represent Albania at Eurovision 2016. He interpreted his song “Sa te dashuroj” which he authored, composed and orchestrated.

In 2017, he was one of the founding members of the Cercle InterHallier.

Since 2016, he has performed in major venues around the world: in Vienna, Luxembourg, Paris, Rome, London, New York, Montreal, Toronto, Tirana, Gstaad, Ulqinj, Sorrento, Zadar, Pristina, Sofia…

In November 2018, he received the blessing of Pope Francis for his compositions: Fantasia Argentina, dedicated to Pope Francis, and Valse Céleste, a hymn for Mother Teresa.

In 2019, he composed the song “Ju flet Tirana” (written by Agim Xheka and orchestrated by Shpetim Saraçi) with which he participated in the semi-finals of the 58th edition of the Festivali i Këngës (FiK).  He sings this song in a duet with his daughter, Nadia Tukiçi.  This song, resembling a hymn, is also intimate in nature and has won the support of both Albanian and international audiences.

Since 2015, Genc Tukiçi has performed with Inva Mula, an international diva, and Olen Çesari, one of the greatest violinists in the world, in a musical trio that they call “Journey around the world”.  The trio has received standing ovations all over the world.  His repertoire draws from the greatest musical cultures, interpreted in a masterful and personal way.  Their musical journey continues…

In May 2022, Genc Tukiçi was awarded the title of Peace Ambassador by the Federation for Universal Peace.
