Ovarian Cancer

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF OVARIAN CANCER
Early ovarian cancer usually has no obvious symptoms. However, studies indicate that some women experience persistent, nonspecific symptoms, such as back pain, bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, or urinary urgency or frequency in the months before diagnosis. Women who experience such symptoms daily for more than a few weeks should seek prompt medical evaluation. The most common sign of ovarian cancer is swelling of the abdomen.
EARLY DETECTION

Women who are at high risk or have symptoms should be offered a thorough pelvic exam in combination with transvaginal ultrasound and a blood test for the tumor marker CA125.
